1. Apply Online
- Create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) account at ttp.cbp.dhs.gov
- Complete the online application
- Pay the $122.25 non-refundable fee
2. Background Check
- Thorough background check against criminal, customs, immigration, law enforcement, and terrorist databases
- 10-fingerprint law enforcement check
- Processing time varies (weeks to months)
3. Schedule and Attend Interview
- After conditional approval, schedule an interview at a SENTRI Enrollment Center
- Enrollment centers are at southern border ports of entry
- Bring to the interview:
- Valid passport(s)
- One additional form of ID (driver's license or ID card)
- Vehicle registration (if enrolling a vehicle)
- Proof of US automobile insurance from an authorized US insurer
- CBP officer conducts personal interview
- Fingerprints and photo taken
4. Receive SENTRI Card
- Physical RFID-enabled card issued
- Vehicle transponder also provided if a vehicle is enrolled
